Valley-Wide Recreation and Park District sponsors several special events throughout the year. Taking place at different locations within the district, our special events are sure to offer fun for the whole family. From "Movies in the Park" to full scale competive challenges like Oldlympics, Valley-Wide Recreation has something for you! Junior Lifeguard Program [ MORE INFO ]

Location: Aquatic Center

This program builds a foundation of knowledge, attitudes and skills for future lifeguards, including prevention fitness, response, leadership and professionalism. Participants must be able to swim 25 yards and tread water for one minute. Junior Lifeguards may be able to aid in lessons and volunteer at the pool for the 2015 season. They must pass a skills test on the last day of the class to volunteer at the pool. Monday - Thursday: TBA Session 1: June 8 - 18 Session 2: June 22- July 2 Session 3: July 6 - 16 AGES: 10 - 14 yrs. Location: Aquatic Center

Course is designed to prepare lifeguards candidates to recognize emergencies, respond \quickly and effectively to emergencies, and pre- vent drowning. Course included First Aid and CPR/AED for the professional rescuer. Students will learn to use a pocket mask and bag-valve resuscitator.

Pre-Requisites: • Participant must be at least 15 years old • Swim 300 yard continuously • 100 yards front crawl • 100 yards breaststroke • 100 yards may be a mixture of front crawl and breaststroke • Swim 20 yards front or breaststroke, dive to the depth of 7 feet, retrieve a 10-pound brick and with legs only to the starting pt.
Participants must participate and attend all class- room sessions, demonstrate proficient and water skills, and pass a written exam with a score of at least 80 percent.
**Passing this class does not guarantee employ- ment with Valley-Wide Recreation and Park District. SESSION 1: TBA

Every Saturday, doors open at 8:30 am. (3) Games of WARM UP start at 11:30 am. (2) games of EARLY BIRDS continue right after warm up are done, approximately 11:45. (10) REGULAR games start after Early Birds. There are special games mixed into the session. Payout is calculated based on attendance. Lessons take place Monday - Thursday. Lessons are 30 minutes long with 8 children per instructor. Participants learn the basic motor skills for beginning swimming and crawl stroke and graduate to elementary backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. Space is limited sign-up early! Bring the whole family, blankets, lawn chairs and a picnic dinner! FREE Movies in the Park at Rancho Bella Vista Park in French Valley.

Movies start promptly at dusk.

*Inflatable screen cannot be used in rain and/or windy weather. We reserve the right to cancel/reschedule dates and/or change movie selection at any time. Please call ahead to confirm.

Movies will be shown on the first and third Friday of each month from May to September 2016.
